A weekend in Manchester
Last weekend I headed back home to Manchester. The main purpose for the trip was actually my boyfriend's Christmas Present; I'd given him tickets to a Manchester United football game. Oh the joy. Now I joke, but I really flipping enjoyed it. And they won, so I had a happy boyfriend for the remainder of the weekend. I wanted to share my must do's for Manchester with you. It felt so strange to be back as I haven't been out into Manchester in a long time, and it feels quite unfamiliar again!
Sleep:
I was very luckily, able to stay at Hotel Gotham with Grifco PR. What an absolutely beautiful hotel concept. It's a grand listed building designed by Edwin Lutyens and referenced in Pevsner's Architectural Guide. Tucked away at the top of King Street, it's perfectly placed for shopping and dining. Our room was wonderful, and boasted the most comfortable bed. James was happy with the mega flat screen TV on the wall…and I was happy with the oversized shower.
My parents came to meet us for some dinner in the hotel restaurant, Honey. The setting was dark and relaxed and had an upmarket feel. The menu choice is absolutely beautiful, and the food honestly matched. I started with the scollops, and my only complaint is that there weren't more! The restaurant uses local ingredients from local producers too, which I love. This place is perfect for a special occasion, moderately priced and some of the best food I've had in a while.
Room rates at Hotel Gotham start from approx. £300 per night. http://www.bespokehotels.com/hotelgotham

I had the most wonderful weekend in Manchester, rediscovering my home city. I hope you've enjoyed my tips and please do ask if you have any other questions about things to do and see if you're heading to visit, or even better, to stay with Hotel Gotham.
