Eat: Granger & Co, Clerkenwell

A couple of weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of reviewing the very beautiful Granger & Co in Clerkenwell, London for the Citizen M Hotel. Australian everything at it's very finest. Here's how it went down.

Value for money:

What we had:
Starter-Olive oil & rosemary salt Pizzetta
Main-Sweet corn fritters, roast tomato, spinach & bacon
Main-Fried chicken sandwich, green nahm jim, pickled vegetables & roasted cashews sandwich
Dessert-Salted peanut brittle. Dark chocolate pistachio fudge
x1 macchiato
x 1 cappuccino

I've always loved Australian inspired food, and this place just concreted over that very notion.  An authentic, cool and relaxed interior and beautiful, honest food. Just the way the Australians do it.
The pizzetta to start was warmed and drizzled in olive oil, soft and full of flavour, with just a big enough portion to keep you going and not bloat you before your main course arrived.
I chose the sweetcorn fitters, and my goodness, I'll never look back. Cooked to perfection, crisp and tasty on the outside whilst delicate and soft in the centre, finished beautifully with roasted tomatoes and spinach. My boyfriend chose a sandwich, which was no ordinary sandwich, I'm talking sour dough bread, thai infused drizzle and plenty of incredible buttermilk chicken scattered across the bread, his words were "This is the best sandwich I've ever had" and he is one of those people that wouldn't ordinarily chose a sandwich because he says they are "boring"!.
We both love dessert, and of course, jumped straight ahead of the menu to check out what we'd be dealing with come dessert ordering time. We weren't disappointed. We shared salted peanut brittle and dark chocolate pistachio fudge. The portions were small but that was really all we needed as the desserts were rich and decadent, I almost couldn't finish mine, almost.
We ended our meal with a coffee each and, yes, you guessed it, the coffee was another big hit and a wonderful way to wrap up our meal.
Overall, the service, value for money and food came out with a whopping 5/5 stars for us.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this review.
