Happy weekend outfits & Sunday dread
Hello you gorgeous lot. I hope you had the best weekend and managed to enjoy the sunshine. I mean, it was 29 degrees so 'enjoy' is a strong word when you live in a garden-less flat in London, where there is NO BREEZE. I won't moan though (as I sit here in my underwear writing because HUMID).
I really did have such a lovely weekend. We celebrated our niece turning 1 on Saturday, there was a bouncy castle, kid's party food and a BBQ and it was beautiful weather. We had a really relaxed Sunday- which is my favourite thing to do. Lizzy and I went for a late breakfast and then booked a trip to LA! We leave in a couple of weeks and I am literally beyond excited! I last went to LA, with Lizzy, in May last year and it's in my top 3 trips ever.
I often say this but, I used to hate Sunday's as I was growing up. The Sunday dinners, the early bedtime, the school uniform hung on the outside of my wardrobe, the homework double check. Absolutely dread inducing. I would almost always feign stomach pain on a Monday morning. Now, however, dread couldn't be further from the feeling that a Sunday gives me. I love the ease of a Sunday, the freeness of having no plans, the slowness of the day, and having the day to get organised for a week of work ahead that I actually look forward to. It's funny how much it changes as we get older, and understand what makes us happy and actually put it into practise.
I always think a lot of that 'Sunday night dread' comes attached to a job that you don't enjoy, too. I've experienced it on many occasion, and I always found the best way to look at it, if you couldn't get out of said job very quickly, or weren't sure about how or when to make your next career move, was to think of the damn money, what that money can allow you do to with the free time you have away from work. Mum used to say to me, "Think of the money, honey" and I stand by that. I don't ever think you should settle, though. Move where you can, change things where you can. We spend most of our time away from family and friends, at work, so we need to be able to enjoy it, enjoy the people; your work family! and be able to feel passionate about what you're doing. It doesn't matter what that is, as long as it makes you happy.
Here's to doing what we want and being brave and happy all at the same time.
