Longer lines
We’re very heavily into coat season now; the art of layering at its finest. I’ve always found it tricky to get a good layer/look balance. I don’t like the feeling of being so bundled up that you lose an outfit underneath.
Enter, warmer but fewer layers, i.e. cashmere. Wonderfully soft, cuddly, warm cashmere. This jumper is by my longstanding favourites at ASOS, specifically the ASOS White collection, which is a more premium, minimal aspect of the brand. I love the neutral colour but most of all the way the neck is cut. It stands up at the back so it keep the chill off your neck if you’re not feeling like wrapping up in a scarf too. I’ve washed it around 4 times now, 30 degrees, delicate wash, and it remains as good as the day it arrived- something which is important if you’re investing in cashemere because you can pay upwards of £100.
This dreamy, long coat which matches my height perfectly is by French Connection and I really do wear it a lot. When it comes to coats, and investing a little more money into one for the colder months, I really believe it should be as non-trend led as possible so you can keep it on rotation in the future and not fall out of love with it. Your usual suspect colours are always best in that department too: navy, black, camel, grey. This coat is really warm and heavy, beautiful quality and its tailored to perfection. Even on women that are smaller than me (I'm 5’11) it looks cool because it’s almost floor length.
