Nipping it in, nailing basics

I think, simplicity is how you get the basics of dressing well, right. It might just be personal taste, but if you can nail the basics in getting dressed then I think you've pretty much cracked it. We all love a bit of colour, print and alternative shapes from time to time, but on an everyday basis, I always feel the best in basics that fit well, have a little something special in the details and are easily paired with numerous things in my wardrobe.

This shirt is from & Other Stories, a revelation, I know but you cannot blame a girl for continuity! It comes in black and white and honestly, I own too many variations of a white shirt so I tried the black, without much enthusiasm, and then fell in love with it. It's fairly blouse-y and volumous around the arms, and then pulls in at the waist with a tie belt. It's such a flattering shape and works perfectly left tucked out of slim leg jeans or a skinny trouser.

I always think hair up with a high neck is lovely too, although I've got the worlds longest neck, I'm sure of it! We can but embrace these things.

My 501's never let me down and it's no different for this look, the wash and fit that goes with everything. Seriously.
