The denim edit
You don't need me to tell you that I'm a denim girl through and through. I wanted to shoot something for you that included my absolute favourite denim styles, and give you a little bit of advice on fit and quality along the way because we all need the perfect fit when it comes to jeans, and getting a great pair can be so difficult because we're all wonderfully different shapes and sizes. Take it from me, Mrs. Long Body since 1987 over here.
This pair, by Martine Rose are the newest in my collection. A mere three weeks ago, I ordered this pair on Matches, and I've not looked back. If I could wear them more than once without getting them dirty, I would. They're my only investment piece of denim; and by investment, I mean expensive, worth the money in terms of how much I'll wear them and high in quality. I love the fit of them, they're super long length (but easily shortened should you need it) and have a mid rise waist, which is something I haven't had in my wardrobe since around 2013. The sizing runs in an extra small, small, and medium. I ordered a small and they were actually very baggy, so I re-ordered the extra small and they are perfect and I'm a size 26 waist. These are my current favourite and you can shop them here: Martine Rose jeans
Next up is my trusty super high waist Re/done jeans. A gorgeous but sightly pricey brand for reworked Levi's that fit me perfectly. I actually got these on Vestiaire, because I'm all about saving money in any way I can (to a limit!) and Vestiaire is the perfect designer resale store. They retail at around £200 but I got these for £90 which I thought was brilliant, considering just how much I've worn them. They're a really wide, cropped leg and look great with Converse. I fully recommend! I feel these need to be tried on, as I know that they really do or don't suit people from what I've seen, so it's always best to try on. I get a size 26 and they seem to be true to size. Check out Re/Done on Vestiaire here (if you aren't signed up, it's free to do so but you must create an account before browsing- well worth it though!)
Weekday were of course going to feature in this edit. There's no way they couldn't! I literally wear them almost daily. They get 10/10 for value, fit and quality. This style is called 'Row' and they are super high waisted, and longer in the leg, and are a stright leg style. I adore them, and they are really comfortable too, so if you want a five course meal, you can sit comfortabley and do just that- tried and tested! So, these are really tricky to get hold of, and I had to call and hunt down this pair in a couple of local stores. This means that I can't give you a link as they're sold out online. But try and call your local stores, you will thank me!
This is another Weekday pair, a pair you can easily get hold of! It's the Voyage denim that I wear all the time and feature so often that you literally must know them by now! This is the light wash ready for Spring/Summer and they're available online. This style are such a great fit, high waisted, straight leg, fit wonderfully on the bottom. I get a size 26W 30L and they are perfect. If you're little bit smaller then get the 28" leg and they will be perfect. Shop: Weekday Voyage
A skinnier fit now from 7 For All Mankind. I love the dark wash of these. They're the perfect slimmer straight leg jeans. I've been working with 7 For All Mankind on a project for the last few months so I've been able to road test quite a few pairs; the veridct is that they wear really well, don't become saggy around the bum or knees and are really soft and comfortable.
